The East Red occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1715 metres on a south-southwest–facing slope, north of Twin Creek and approximately 15.5 kilometres southeast of Old Hogem. The Takla-Rainbow (MINFILE 093N 082) occurrence is located approximately 1 kilometre to the west-southwest.

Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Twin Creek Formation (Takla Group) that have been intruded by Lower Jurassic monzodioritic to gabbroic intrusive rocks and Lower Cretaceous granitic intrusive rocks of the Hogem Plutonic Suite. Locally, variably silica ± carbonate-altered granodiorite, diorite, and andesite host quartz veins, up to 0.22 metre wide, with disseminated to blebby pyrite, chalcopyrite and magnetite with malachite staining.

In 1990, two grab samples (TR-90-I64 and -D61), taken from outcrops located at a similar elevation (approximately 1715 metres) and approximately 100 metres apart, assayed 0.300 and 0.761 per cent copper, 13.8 and 7.1 grams per tonne silver with 0.345 and 1.271 grams per tonne gold, respectively, whereas a grab sample (TR-90-D57) from an outcrop location down slope to the south, at an elevation of approximately 1580 metres, yielded 0.66 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 22372).

In 2006, a rock sample (407660) assayed 0.128 per cent copper, 1.5 grams per tonne silver and 0.129 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 29011).
